PAX work in Colombia gets big boost from Postcode Lottery

March 5, 2019

PAX has received a grant from the Dutch Postcode Lottery to expand our work supporting victims in Colombia.

The grant of one-and-a-half-million euros was announced at the annual Charity Gala in Amsterdam. The money will fund the project “Truth and Justice”.

“This award is great news for our programme and for the victims in Colombia”, says Sander Otten of PAX. “We are working hard to ensure that victims finally get clarification about the violence that has been done to them. In this way they will be able to work through what has happened and see the future in a positive light.”

The Dutch Postcode Lottery
The Dutch Postcode Lottery is the largest charity lottery in the Netherlands, and one of the largest in the world – fifty percent of the proceeds are donated to 103 charities. Last year more than 350 million euros were donated.

The Lottery was established in 1989 to support charities that work for a just and green world. The lottery raises funds for its charitable causes and publicizes their work. Instead of drawing a lottery number as with other lotteries, in the Postcode Lottery one’s postcode is the lottery number. Since its establishment, the Postcode Lottery has donated more than 5.4 billion euros to good causes.

“We’re very pleased that the Postcode Lottery supports this important work,” says PAX’s Otten. “This will help us contribute to a lasting peace in Colombia.”
