Business, human rights and conflict
Business enterprises in conflict-affected areas are running risks of involvement in the most egregious human rights violations. They also risk to exacerbate conflict, threatening their own operations and putting the lives and livelihoods of the population at risk. These risks are rarely well assessed or prevented.
PAX conducts research on economic activities that impact negatively on violent conflict. We engage with companies and investors about preventing and mitigating conflict-specific risks. In addition, we hold companies to account when they play a negative role, fail to uphold human rights norms, or otherwise ignore other people’s rights and interests. PAX stands with victims of violence and supports them in their struggle for truth and justice.
