Is the Iran nuclear deal dead?

January 31, 2020

No, the Iran nuclear deal is not dead. The US did pull out, but that was not the end of the agreement.

Officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the deal was agreed upon by a number of parties, namely Iran itself, China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany and the European Union. Everyone but the United States is still officially abiding by the agreement. However, the agreement is in jeopardy due to European companies bowing under US pressure not to do business with Iran, and Iran’s response that it may resume enriching uranium to a higher level.
