The many protests following the killing of Floyd George in the USA confirm that human rights violations against racialized groups is a major issue around the globe. Reforms of policing policies and practices are part of the solution.

PAX is member of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, a group of over 50+ corporations, governments, and NGOs that was established to improve the human rights performance of private and public security providers in the extractive industries. Based on the VPs, members have issued a statement about the required direction of reforming policing and restructuring of public security institutions.

Several corporations and NGOs felt very strongly about the statement. There was disappointment that none of the member governments have signed on.
