OCADES provides training for local organisations to enhance conflict prevention and mediation. Participants learn about types of conflicts, local customs, and alternative conflict resolution methods. They find the training valuable as it equips them better to negotiate peaceful solutions.
The training is based on three pillars:
- Preventing and containing conflict
OCADES strengthens the capacities of local groups for conflict prevention and management, such as the Collège de Dialogue et de Médiation and other civil society organisations. - Combating religious and ethnic stigmatization
Participants are trained in preventing ethnic and religious stigmatization and in non-violent communication. These trainings enhance the ability of local leaders to resolve issues in the villages and promote social cohesion. - Return of displaced persons
Civil, military, and paramilitary authorities, as well as religious and ethnic leaders, are working to facilitate the return of displaced persons to their initial communities.
OCADES and PAX have reached over 23,000 people. While there is still much work to be done to achieve lasting peace in the Goulmou region, this project has contributed to peace and social cohesion.
