Israeli airstrikes have again severely hit the Gaza Strip. This is the largest escalation since the cease-fire began two months ago. The destruction is massive, the humanitarian disaster indescribable.
The exact death toll is uncertain, but local hospitals speak of hundreds dead. And casualties still lie beneath the rubble. The attacks affect all of Gaza, from north to south.
The White House knew about it and supports all the attacks. Israel had informed the US in advance of the plans and the US agreed. Indeed, spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told FoxNews that “Hamas, the Houthis and anyone who wants to terrorize Israel and the US will have to pay a price” and that “All hell will break loose.
Israel exercises absolute military dominance and can continue to do so with impunity. This attack shows that again. It shows how it flouts international law time and again without consequence.
The Netherlands keeps repeating that all parties must abide by a cease-fire, but how credible is that call if no real consequences ever follow? How long will we let Israel get away with war crimes without serious political and economic consequences? Words alone are not enough. It is time for action. The Netherlands must take an unequivocal stand and institute concrete measures against these ongoing violations of international law.
Stop the violence
People in the Middle East are desperate. Terrified, hunted and exhausted. The horrific Israeli violence in Gaza just goes on. In the West Bank, aggression increases by the day. This must end now. We need the Dutch government to do more!
